About

Michealjon Slinger is one of the Industry’s most impressive and respected performers and creatives, whose Broadway and West End credits set him apart in a class of his own!

Originally from Queensland, Australia, Michaeljon moved to the United States in 2004 after winning the Australian Dancer of the Year Award and receiving a full scholarship to attend American Ballet Theatre’s Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis school. He went on to attend the B.F.A. dance program at the prestigious Juilliard School in New York City, making him the first Australian to be accepted into either one of these programs. In 2009, Michaeljon made his Broadway debut as an original cast member of and dance captain for the revival of West Side Story, directed by Arthur Laurents.

Michaeljon continued his career on Broadway as both a performer and dance captain. He has appeared in Billy Elliot the MusicalHow to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying (original company starring Daniel Radcliffe), Evita (original company starring Ricky Martin), Side Show (original company), and Matilda. One of the absolute highlights of his performing career was the role of on-stage dance captain for the 2017 revival of Broadway’s Hello, Dolly! starring Bette Midler.

In addition to his ten-year career on Broadway, Michaeljon has performed in numerous productions regionally and throughout New York city, including the one-night-only performance of Guys & Dolls, starring Nathan Lane, Patrick Wilson, and Megan Mullaly. On Screen his film and television credits include the 2011 and 2014 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade, the 2011, 2012, and 2019 Tony Awards, and the 2015 Academy Awards. He was also a part of the opening number of the major motion picture Ted 2, directed by Seth Macfarlane.​

Michaeljon’s career shifted in 2018, when he made his West End debut as associate director and choreographer of the musical, Mythic, directed by Sarah O’Gleby. Michaeljon is now an in-demand choreographer with credits such as working alongside Lorin latarro, first as associate choreographer on Michael Mayer’s world premiere of La Traviata at the metropolitan opera and following in quick succession as assistant choreographer and dance captain of Roundabout Theatre’s & Fiasco Theatre’s production of Merrily We Roll Along in New York.

The pair have gone on to collaborate on two more shows, with Michaeljon taking on associate choreographer roles for both Almost Famous and Mrs. Doubtfire.

Michaeljon also spends time in Sydney Australia when possible and is in great demand as a creative in his home country!
