Mitchell Woodcock is one of Australia’s most sought-after performers, choreographers, and creative directors, with an expansive career spanning theatre, screen, live performance, and large-scale global events.

Trained by Debra McCulloch in Perth, Mitchell moved to Sydney at just 14 years of age to continue his training at Brent Street Academy. At 17, he made his professional musical theatre debut as A-rab in the Australian touring production of West Side Story (Lunchbox Theatrical) marking the beginning of an exceptional career.

A role in the ensemble of Wicked (GFO) quickly followed, before Mitchell progressed into Ensemble/Dance Captain roles across major productions including the European tour of West Side Story (Sundance Productions), Dirty Dancing (GFO), Kinky Boots (MCG) – in which he also performed the role of Angel – and Chicago (GFO).

Mitchell’s performance credits also include Guys and Dolls (The Production Company), Baz Luhrmann’s film The Great Gatsby, ABC’s Dance Academy, The X Factor Australia, The Voice Australia, and live performances with artists such as Kelly Rowland, Ricky Martin, Kylie Minogue, will.i.am, Joel Madden, and Delta Goodrem.

Alongside his performance career, Mitchell has emerged as one of Australia’s most exciting choreographers and creative leaders. He became the youngest-ever choreographer to feature on So You Think You Can Dance Australia, a milestone that led to his Helpmann Award–winning work on Saturday Night Fever. Since establishing his production company, New Ground Collective, he has delivered creative direction and choreography for television franchises including The Voice Australia and Australian Idol, global Opening Ceremonies for FIFA and ICC T20, and performances for international artists such as Rita Ora, Kylie Minogue, Adam Lambert, Meghan Trainor, Khalid, and The Kid LAROI.

His creative work spans major broadcast events and live platforms including the ARIA Awards, TV Week Logie Awards, NRL Grand Final, FIBA Women’s World Cup, The Australian Open, Splendour in the Grass, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, NYC Pride, and WeHo Pride, as well as luxury brands including Dior, Qantas, Tiffany & Co., Cartier, and Van Cleef & Arpels.

In theatre, Mitchell served as Resident Choreographer for Pippin (GFO) and Saturday Night Fever (GFO), and choreographed Elf The Musical (Xroads Live) at the Sydney Opera House Concert Hall, earning a nomination for Best Choreography at the Sydney Theatre Awards. His original choreography for the 2025 Australian production of Annie (Xroads Live) gained international attention for its viral Easy Street production number as well as a nomination for a Green Room Award.

In 2024, Mitchell launched Co-Lab Quarters, a creative hub in Newtown, Sydney designed to support and connect industry performers. In 2025, he wrote, directed, and choreographed Lassù, a Spiegeltent production that premiered at the Perth Fringe Festival, before spending significant time in the United States, where he made his Broadway debut as a performer in the Tony Award-winning musical The Outsiders, appearing in an ensemble and swing role.
