SOPHIA NDABA
About
Sophia Ndaba is a Zulu Australian dance artist who holds a varied skill set in creating and performing dance in both contemporary and commercial styles across theatre, TV, and film. When she’s not on stage performing, you can find her in the studio creating new works as a notable choreographer and creative director.
Sophia is a graduate of the McDonald College of Performing Arts and the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) and has attained a Bachelor of Arts in Dance.
Her performance credits include Shaun Parker & Company, La Fura Dels Baus & Opera Australia, Force Majeure, Ensemble Offspring, Britta Lieberknecht & Company, along with working with independent choreographers, Melanie Lane, Victoria Hunt, Martin Del Amo, Sara Black, Anton, Nici Grandison and Kiani Del Valle. Sophia is also a founding member of the Dance Makers Collective and the KDV Ensemble.
Sophia’s choreographic work began with the Dance Makers Collective in 2012. Since then, she has choreographed a solo work,’ In The Light of a Shadow’ for Berlin theatre Ballhaus Naunynstrasse, TVCs for Best & Less, Virgin Australia and for Sky TNT’s TV series – PARA Wir sind King.
After relocating for a time to Berlin in 2016, Sophia joined Clark’s world tour of Death Peak Live (2016-2018), DJ Bobo’s Kaleidoluna European tour (2019) and Lena Meyer Landrut’s Only Love European tour (2019). She also had the opportunity to perfrom on screen for X Factor Germany, The Masked Singer Germany and Season 3 of Netflix series, Babylon Berlin.
Sophia is now back in Australia and her most recent work ‘The Veil of Separation’, premiered to critical acclaim in Sydney Dance Company’s 2022 New Breed Season, in Sydney, Australia.
Sophia’s is also an in-demand model who has walked and shot for high end events and brands including Australian Fashion Week, Adidas, Deichman, Wizz Air, Zalando, Shiseido, C&A, Style Bop and Vogue Germany.
