CHIARA ASSETTA

About

Chiara Assetta is not only one of Australia’s rising musical theatre stars, but a gifted creative. She has a unique flare for theatrical staging, and an understanding of commercial works, large and small.

Chiara began her training at Glenda Yee School of Dance, before graduating from ED5 International with a Diploma in Performing Arts. 

Chiara’s theatrical credits include the beloved SIX The Musical (LWAA) as Dance Captain and understudy to all six queens; Mamma Mia (LWAA) also in the Dance Captain and Swing roles as well as understudy to Ali and Lisa; ’Teresita’ in Handa Opera Australia’s West Side Story on Sydney Harbour; ‘Brian’ in the musical adaption of Terry Pratchett & Neil Gaiman!s Good Omens (Squabbalogic); ‘Bride of Frankenstein’, ‘Hip’ and ‘Hop’ in the iconic Universal Monsters Live Show (Universal Studios Japan); and Frog Choir vocalist at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter (Universal Studios Japan). 

In 2019, Chiara co-created, co-choreographed, and performed in Siblingship with her brother Daniel, which was awarded Best Cabaret by Broadway World Australia. The show played to sold out audiences at the Hayes Theatre Co, and toured to Canberra, Melbourne, and Parramatta.

As a choreographer, Chiara originated the choreography for the Australian developmental premiere of The Dismissal (Squabbalogic, Sydney Theatre Company, Canberra Theatre Centre). She has also choreographed for leading performing arts institutions in Sydney, including ED5 International and Ettingshausens Pro. Internationally, Chiara has choreographed for entertainment events such as Japan’s world renowned Japanese Latin Festival, and the International Artists Concert in Osaka.

Most recently Chiara was the Choreographer and Assistant Director for the Hayes Theatre Company’s Zombie the Musical

Chiara’s on-screen film and television credits so far include a Lynx TVC, Dance Academy, and So You Think You Can Dance with Kelly Rowland. As a vocalist, she has worked as a session vocalist for P&O Cruises and a backing vocalist for Delta Goodrem, and performed the national anthem at the opening of Bankwest Stadium.
